    Default How to tell

How do you tell if you have cooked the motor? Does it try to start then just stop, or does it just not start?

It splutterd then died when we stopped at lights and it was all smokey and the oil was just on "low" and then the oil light came on AFTER the car had stopped and the radiator was empty and there was a split in the side tank

Wreckers are your friend - about $500 should buy a good Ecotec motor...add $100 for a radiator and maybe another $200 for incidentals.
