looking at getting a vs clubby. at 4500 it needs an engine rebuild and some interior and exterior work. i dont know whether to modify or restore. will it fetch a decent price down the track if restored or should i just have some fun with it?
cheers
mmm i was thinking that but i dont think that it will sost that much to restore. its not in that bad of a condition and i will probably pay more modding it. unless your saying it wont get much after i restore it anyway?
There were lots of VS Club Sport cars around and not that "collectable" unless in very very good condition with low K's on it.
I say go have some fun with it - thats what they were built for - to drive and enjoy.
White 05 V6 VZ Executive - Thrashed Ex Telstra car
and 3 Dangerous non ABS VN's
the more i think about the car and look at the pics the more i want to chuck a stupidly large crate engine in it haha :P
Does the VS Clubsport even have any usable features over the SS?
That being said I guess it will always have a higher resale value just because it's a HSV.
But I wouldn't be worried about profit just have fun and enjoy the car and fix all of the annoying problems
wont be worth to much more when you restore it,i have HSV that hardly sees the light of day),its a maloo(mint cond 1998 s111) needs nothing spent on it as its as stock as a rock as the day it left HSV. 8mnths ago it COST 7K be lucky to be worth 5k in 2 years and its a hsv,1 of onlt 250 made. i think the 308 v8 market post 1992 has taken a wack from the newer chev 5.7ltr. most rev headed v8 owners will take the biggest v8 thay can get,so the old 308 had taken a back seat to the 5.7chev......also the newer models with v8s now have abs trac,c more airbags, and just plain out more options.......so the old vr to vs 308 clubbies and 308 ss sedans and maloo utes are worth less than say 10 to 15 yrs ago years ago when all that was around in the australian mass market was the 308,253,ford 302 and 351.the v8 market has been opened wide now with the intro of the 5.7 ltr and the newer 6ltr v8 from chev in the new holdens,,WETHER YOU RESTORE or TURN IT INTO beast of A MACHINE. DO IT WELL and enjoy your ride.............................cheeers

If its a genuine restore it depending on what you do and what it needs it would pick you up on average 25 to 30K if done right....
yeah im thinking il just have fun with it. iv been looking at stroker kits from pro stroke. 304-355 kit for street/race is rrp 2600. comes with everything needed but what is the dif between that or race kit which is 1k more? it has parts made from different materials but what is the performance difference?
No 308 since mid 80's...all 304 since then till the LSx came in.
To OP, if by down the track you mean you will keep the car in mint condition until you retire and use it for your super then maybe you might get some decent appreciation when a bunch of the other VS Clubbies have gone to the junkyard in the sky (aka 70's muscle etc).
If not then like mentioned above have some fun with it now.
25k to 30k ? no hope,as said in the movie the castle(TELL HIM HES DREAMING) your dreaming to even thingk it will ever be worth 30k, origanal from the fact never driven in mint cond(may be in 15 yrs) a restore is no way as good as a never driven garaged car,,,,,25k? 30k.......nope never

can someone help me with the stroker kits? lol
do not buy this car expecting to make any money on it. it will not happen. cars are a depreciating asset and it will be a long time until these models are collectable or worth anything. and then only the really low kay non modified ones will be worth anything. I had a 1996 VSII clubby manual, sunroof in average condition and i could only sell it for $5500 just a few months ago
Like above, its a massivly used car now. collectors will have a low/no K vehicles worth way more then a clapped out(without being harsh, sorry) 450k clubby with old suspension/chasis/interior ect.. Just have some fun and build it to what you like

down frankston way. looking to bump it up to a 355ci with a stroker kit and any other mods that i can do to squeeze as much out of it as i can without spending 10k on a supercharger kit. im thinking of putting one of those new VE bi modal mufflers on. thoughts?
the stroker kit itself may only cost you a few grand but the labour involved in setting up the block and heads and all the other little buts and pieces will cost heaps more
i built a stroker for my vs clubsport and its cost me 7500 for the engine and i ended up spending another 5000 on other stuff like the tranny, injectors, starter motor, all new ignition etc etc
just warning u its pretty much the same cost to build a stroker as it is to whack on a supercharger
my opinion....build the stroker if u can afford it, that way uve got a fresh engine...rather than bolting a blower to a worn 5L

over the next 3 ish years the budget is 7-10k... for that i should probably buy a crate engine haha
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you.
