lately ive been having problems with my climate control, the face vents arent always working, so i know its the vacuum box, but, what does it look like and where is it exactly is it? (ive heard its behind the headunit)
i went to holden today to see if they had any, and i was told that i need to replace the whole climate control unit to fix it, which i think is a load of bs coz the unit works fine
so what does the vacuum box look like so when i go to get a new one i know what it is im looking for
my car is a 99 vs caprice (incase each model is diffrent)
Theres a vacuum reserve tank under the left front guard up in behind the bumper. It looks like a black plastic ball with a vacuum hose connected to it.
I think maybe you should explain exactly what a "vacuum box" is.....Brett's answer is the one I'd also give but re-reading your post I'm not sure. And why are you sure that's the problem?

is that the one that controls the vents between face/feet?
i duno what it is exactly, i just heard it being called vacuum box that controls the vents, coz the face vents keep gettin blocked but the feet ones work fine, and doin some reading on this site, i found that the box that controls the vents, when something on/in it breaks the face vents stop working
I think it mainly holds a vacuum reserve for the brake booster so you get a few pumps of the pedal with vacuum assist, even if the engine stalls,in saying that, the booster itself also holds some reserve vacuum. But Id say that the reserve tank would also be the same vacuum that controls the heater as its all connected,my heater controls will move positions after the engine is turned off,so theres reserve vacuum definitely held for the heater controls.Mine is normal manual heater though, not climate control.
Maybe "vacuum box" means the bank of solenoid control(led) vacuum valves behind the fascia?
honestly, this is confusing me, i no of the solenoid box thing, but got no idea what it does, i know about the tank behind the headlight but i dont think that controls the vents in the car
coz whateva it is, its stopping the face vents from working
it will most likely be the solenoid block. it receives a signal from the climate module, which tells it to open/close vacuum lines to each vent area.
by reading your thread starter... im pretty sure youre talking about the Vacuum Acuator.
