What is this stuff?

Hey guys,

Have removed side skirts from a VR V8 Ute and found the following stuff remained:





What is it and how do I remove it minimising paint damage (if possible)? Is it the standard method of attaching side skirts or has someone gone nuts with sikaflex or alike?

That's Sikaflex. Normally the factory doesn't use it i don't think not for the side skirts anyway. Possibly been replaced before and the people that put it on thought it would be a great idea to do it. To remove it you need a Pin Stripe remove or otherwise known as a caramel wheel which can be found on ebay or most automotive paint shops
