I'd get your boyfriend onto it - search this forum for similar problems as there are thousands of posts on auto problems. But first of it sounds like the inhibiter switch is maladjusted....also might help to buy a Gregorys workshop manual which will help you a lot. Re doing the VR up, check out the members rides in that section.....also check all the sub-forums on this site. I'm an old bugger and my idea of doing up a VR would be totally different to your ideas.![]()

Your Dad probably liked the VR over the VL 'cause it's a lot safer vehicle.

Safer Vehicle hako in what sense?
babe It's kind of hard to diagnose auto gearbox problems without knowing the ins and outs of them.
Check the fluid level on a flat surface while engines running and warmed up.
Auto fluid and filter change is about the most you can do, see if that helps I guess.
Failing that just try pickup a second hand box off a car that was driving well.
Have a look at other peoples threads on here with their pictures to see how they do their cars up,
but yeah my sense of doing cars up especially commodores might differ to everyone on this forum,
Bob Jane cheapo rims and Clubsport kits on Bog stock VR/VS is not my bag.
