3.8 Litre 1996 Model
Yesterday while driving my Belt shreaded, i changed the belt over on the spot but ended up having to get my car towed, The shreeded belt has done damage to the hood lining and i was wondering if anyone knows what it could of knock/torn that does/helps spark the engine? Thanks in adcance.
Possibly the belt got caught behind the harmonic balancer and has damaged the Crank Ange Sensor, or it may have damaged the DFI module which is under the coils - look for rub marks and also check all connections in the general area.

Checked every connection i could see, Under the coils is where i thought most likely but it seems fairly well protected and undamaged, A lot of the belt ended up underneth the engine.
Battery Is now dead will have to wait for 4 hours to continue trouble shooting, Feel free to give me trouble shooting tips![]()

After you get the battery back in and give it a crank, check the error codes. Hopefully if it damaged the CAS it will flag it up in the codes for not seeing it.
If the CAS is damaged,it should spit error codes 46 and/or 47.Error code 46 is crank angle reference signal, (engine will not start when this code is set and active).Error code 47 is crank angle reference signal (no signal).
Ive seen these belts come off before and damage the harmonic balancer, these balancers have interruptor blades at the rear of them, these blades pass through the CAS to generate the reference signals, and the blades can hit the CAS and damage it if the balancer is damaged at all .Its worth removing the belt and checking the balancer for movement, lever it back and forth with a screwdriver to check for any movement, also try to turn it back and forth and check for any play...
