hi all
i have a vr and it wont shift into 2nd it just revs if you get up it up to 40kph then back off the gas a bit it will drop into 2nd then its fine PLEASE HELP
Is it an auto or manual?
Sounds like it is the Throttle Position Sensor...do a fault code check to confirm: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
If this fails, the auto cannot tell where the throttle is.

EDGE3 its a auto
hako when i done the fault code it was all 12's i sat there for awhile and it was still all 12's is there another way to test the throttle position sensor
Sounds like the tps should put a code up but the only way to tell is by putting a new one in they are expensive try using a mates one first. Ebay ones arent very good either.
would one from a vn work in the vr
not sure possibly if its the same engine
There is a test for them in the Gregorys manual with a multimeter - someone has one for a VG @ $10 on Ebay ...VG may fit if it has Ecotec...think it does. VN may also fit-----eyeball both or do a search on Google for TPS and see if they have same ID.

hi all i just tried a tps sensor and still no good any other thoughts
Maybe check the VSS....also do a codes check again....disconnect, inspect and reconnect all cables to the transmission...when you put the new TPS in, did you check the drive adaptor was there - sometimes they get left out and the TPS will not work. (presuming the TPS is the same as VS)...will it manually start in 1 then manually shift up the gears OK?

hi hako the adapter was there and put back in its only have trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd once it in 2nd its fine if i shift it manually it wont shift i still have to back off a bit then it shifts into 2nd then its fine
here's a thought.
Bands a rooted.
try the kickdown cable mate
there is no kickdown cable because its electronic spoke to a transmission place they said its ether a bad solenoid or a faulty valve
