Sounds like it is the Throttle Position Sensor...do a fault code check to confirm: Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
If this fails, the auto cannot tell where the throttle is.

Sounds like the tps should put a code up but the only way to tell is by putting a new one in they are expensive try using a mates one first. Ebay ones arent very good either.

There is a test for them in the Gregorys manual with a multimeter - someone has one for a VG @ $10 on Ebay ...VG may fit if it has Ecotec...think it does. VN may also fit-----eyeball both or do a search on Google for TPS and see if they have same ID.

If it was the solenoid it would have left a fault code.

Maybe check the VSS....also do a codes check again....disconnect, inspect and reconnect all cables to the transmission...when you put the new TPS in, did you check the drive adaptor was there - sometimes they get left out and the TPS will not work. (presuming the TPS is the same as VS)...will it manually start in 1 then manually shift up the gears OK?

there is no kickdown cable because its electronic spoke to a transmission place they said its ether a bad solenoid or a faulty valve
