I don't know how you guys with utes do it.
How do you get the back low without tyre rub.
I've got VT R8 18s with 48 offset and 235/40/18s on my ute and i just noticed the inside of the tyre is rubbing on the inner guard, i had a look and there's no room for the rim to come out more without the tyre rubbing the other side.
For the guys running 18s can you tell me what offset and tyre size you're using.
I've just notice this because i think one of my rear shocks has collapsed as the back of the ute is on abit of a lean, so looked and saw the rubbing.
you have a properly adjusted panhard rod? are you sure theres no more room for say a bit of a spacer in the rear to get the wheel away from the inner guard.
i think +48 offset with 8 inch wide is a bit too postiive for the utes, i know my ute gets rub on the inner guards with 8 inch wide +48's. it only rubs when one side compresses more than the other, which i guess is what you are seeing. i have a fair bit of clearance with 235's from the outer guard, and its not had guard rolling.
i think about 8 mm spacer would bring the wheel out enough to clear it better in my case, so yours 'shouldnt' be too much different. even though mine isnt that low, the wheels still travel pretty much the same.
ps. most guys here wouldnt understand much about which offset etc.
Thanks mate. Yep panhard rod 'seems' ok, had new nolathanes put in befor i bought it.
Thinking 'bout that, i had a wheel alignment done 'bout a month ago with one of the newest laser aligners in NZ ($75,000 machine) and alignment front/back-back/front & side to side was spot on so it kinda rules out panhard rod.
PS: Your kidding 'bout the 'not understanding the offset' thing aye? LOL>

Is the camber all correct
I have similar issues with the wagon, i only run 17's with 215's. Otherwise any decent roll off somwhere that causes the wheel to tuck badly basically rubs. I could go bigger if i got an adjustable panhard rod to offset the throw a bit caused from lowering. Basically with live axle its very hard to do anything. Only thing i can suggest is lowering right to the bump stops almost and using some solid springs and shocks. This will limit wheel movement up/down/side/side to subside the scrubing, but make for a stupid ride.
haha i wish i was but more than half of the people here wouldnt know what offset their wheels are.
i have the feeling that this inner guard rubbing is something that nearly all live axle ute drivers just accept when running 8 inch wide rims that are from a vt - vz commodore. i think all genuine holden wheels from that time in 8 inch wide are +48.
if i go back to stockies (6 inch wide, from memory they are +43) i dont scrub at all. obviously because they are so skinny and 5mm different offset.
