    Default another B.C.M related question...

    Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone can help me out. I had one of those dodgy hornet 719t alarm systems die on me the other day. I can do without it for now, just wondering if it would be hard just to rewire the central locking back to the BCM so I can use it with my commodore key? I getting quite confused because the BCM reads 148 UTE and I've read on another forum that they don't come with the central locking option as well as power windows, and electric mirrors. However when I press the button on my key the light turns on in the cabin? So wouldnt that mean it did have central locking when it first came out?

I know the easier way would be just to replace the alarm system, but I didnt think it would be a hard thing to do to just wire that signal that the interor light gets from the key to the central locking module? Any advice is good advice right now.

    Can inclose pictures if needed,

    Thanks

The 148 UTE BCM is a low series fitted to the lower variants such as the executive. I'm fairly certain this 148 model does not support central locking etc as you've mentioned above. Many VS utes never had central locking and the only function the 'unlock' button serves is to turn on the interior light as you've discovered. My guess is if you remove a door trim to look at the locking mechanism the only locking servo there will be the aftermarket one that was fitted with your alarm and not the standard genuine one

Yep no factory central locking. Another check is have a look at the central locking fuse to see if it has two pins. If its only got one and no fuse installed, then you dont have central locking.

Cheapest way to get out of it would be to buy a cheap alarm with central locking output and use that for your central locking control as door actuators should already be installed into the doors.

Ha yeah, prolly will. I'll make sure its not one of those hornet things again thats for sure! Getting a little bit off topic, but I posted something a little while ago about my central locking popping up and down over bumps and sometimes the hazards will stay constantly lit when the automatically popped, I could not figure it out at all, wiggled all the wires checked the aculators etc. Then when I lost my keys the other weekend I had to call a locksmith..when he popped my door open he opened my bonnet walked over to the alarm brain/siren, which was still screaming by the way and tilted it so the siren was facing up. When he did that...boom! the alarm disarmed automatically and the locks unlocked themselves... pretty secure hey? However today, i just relised that one of the bolts that held onto the siren had snapped the plastic and there was a big crack down the side so it only held on by one bolt. After a bit of investgating everytime I move the siren, the locks pop up and when I move it pop down..anywho..the moral of the story? fix one problem..find another. lol
