Default Heater control rod not working

I put a stereo in the VS the other day and I pulled the heater control out as far as I could without disconnecting it but now the rod does not move real good with when the knob is turned, it does move the rod but not much, have I broken something or ir is it fixable?

Did you undo the white clip that holds the rod in place ?...it is on the left side of the drivers footwell. Check if this is either broken or the rod has slipped backwards in it and maybe just need adjusting.

Check this link for pics. It is what I used when I changed my HU.

The rod is not moving in sinc with the knob, the clip is still in place on the rod.

reconnect the rod to the clip...if the clip is broken you can buy new ones or use a very small cable tie to lock it in. Make sure that when you reconnect the rod that it does compress the black button bit when dialled to cold.

Here are some pix of the clip and the arm....you should also see the black button that must be depressed by the white arm to turn the heater OFF. I haven't sorted these pix so just use as a rough guide.

Edit...in 2 of the pix you will see a brass clip thingo that I added to hold the rod in the clip....rough but it works.

When you turn the temp dial clockwise to COLD, the rod should pull the white arm back against the knob and depress it....if it's not depressing it, adjust where the rod sits on the clip so that it can depress the knob (which is quite hard to press in).

If the rod doesnt move with the knob it might not be attached, But if it is.. Do as Hako says, Just get a small screw driver between the rod and plastic should come apart ( I adjusted that way) but you could twisted the rod and should follow the thread.. but you gotta remove the rod from the Unit that controls heat and such..

Let me try and explain this better, the rod and the white arm under the dash are 100% perfect,
When I turn the temp knob on the dash the rod does not move with it, how do I re connect the rod with the dash knob?

I pulled off my selector dial thinking I needed to do this to access for stereo install - how stupid was I. Now the selector just spins freely as the spindle dropped inside and when I pulled mixer unit out slightly to reattach I couldn't get it right... I feel your pain.

on the back of the assembly where the rod connects, check to make sure you haven't broken the swivel tab or made the large cog move past it's full travel (i.e. teeth on both cog's no longer mating)
I have a box of 50 of these i sell on ebay.
Let me know if you've broken the mountings and i'll send you one for postage price only.
