Hi all, am new to this forum but have been browsing it for a while. I have a problem with my series 3 5.0 vs ute, I removed and replaced gaskets for my intake manifold. After putting everything back on (radiator, fan & belts are off the car as they need replacing) I started it up and it idles like it has a big cam which It didn't before, prior to removing the manifold it never had so much as a miss. Could this idle problem be due to having had the injectors removed, disconnecting the battery or disconnecting the coil? Or possibly anything else? Thanks in advance![]()
hey mate you tried replacing spark leads and plugs? that mite be the prob?!? check everything from your spark plugs to coil to dizzy. did you put everything back on correctly?
Hi adrenaline junky, I shall check the plugs and leads it does sound electrical. I'm pretty sure I put everything back properly however I do have my doubts. Thanks
Did you plug the TPS/coolant temp(both)/IAC back in properly. Did you plug all the vac lines back on, remembered the 2 on the back of the manifold. All injectors plugged back in properly. Failing that, did you get the dizzy wet or anything while you were back there. Failing that change the spark plugs, sounds like one died maybe.
Come to think of it vr wagz I pressure cleaned the motor before I pulled it apart and blew it dry. Possibly I got water where it's not supposed to be will it dry out over a day or so? Sorry mate what does iac stand for?
IAC = Idle air control, tbh its not gonna result in a rough idle if its unplugged, more like no idle at all or very low idle. It may dry out after a day or 3, if it is water. Depends how much and where it is more then anything. If it is, a good day in the sun with the bonnet up should fix it. Only thing i worry about with water in the dizzy, is it creating a carbon track after its been arcing for a while, so it still may require the dizzy cap to be popped off and wiped out properly.
