In what appears to be an instance of OldTimers, I've put down the key to our 96 VS wagon and it's evaporated into thin air.
What's involved in replacing key/barrel and I'll presume a recode of the key to the car as well?
remove the old barrel and take to a locksmith, they can get a new one and set for your existing key. Some locksmiths will come onsite and do this for you.
Only had the one key that was supplied when we bought the car, so it will be either a new key for existing barrel or new barrel/key....
easier to get barrel fixed and redone for existing key cost me about $80 last time from memory , otherwise you will need a new locks for doors, boot, etc etc.
