Im in need of help i have no clue how to do the timing on my car we just put a rebuilt motor in her.can anyone tell me how it is done please. we get her to crank over but she is out and when the timing light says the timing is right she dies and wont start till she is out what the!!! i need to know how to do it
by the way its a vs v8 statesman
you need to have the ecu in diagnostic mode to set timing bridge pin 5 and 6 of the top row on the aldl plug under the stearing colomn then set timing to 10 degrees with timing light

sorry but how do i bridge pin 5 and 6 what do i use? i know where all that is just need to know how to bridge them
and do i have the car running when i do this?
use a split pin and yes car should be running
paperclip peice of speaker wire anything with not much resistance

needs help again she wont stay started at 10degrees she keeps dieing what would be the problem?
your balancer could of spun the outer steel ring making the timing mark way off youll need to check if its still marking TDC youll get a rough idea just by turning the engine over until number 1 cylinder is at the top of its stroke if the mark is miles away its slipped

did that and still no go made sure it came up twice but no go, and not running right still missing. im at a loss with it have tried all that and she just wont run right. do the computer need to be reset or something?
is the timing ment to 10 degrees out after you do that and thats where its ment to run right? this is really bugging me i just want her to go
if the timing mark hasnt moved then yes its meant to run smooth at 10 degrees then when you pull the jumper out the aldl plug it will instantly raise timing to preset levels in the ecu

you do have the timing light on the passenger side front sparkplug lead number 1 cylinder or 2nd one back on the drivers side number 4 while setting timing

i thought it was ment to be on spark or lead one on the drivers side
how long do i leave the jumper in before pulling it out of the aldl plug
put wire in plug start car set timing lock down dizzy turn car off unplug wire from aldl and fire it back up .will be way easier to time when you have the timing light on number 1 cylinder rather than number 2 LOL

it is on number one when i do it, number one is on the drivers side of my car
when the plog is in the car wont start i put the plug in when she is started is that the wrong way?
im so over this car i did all that but she is not right it drops to twent degrees i dont know what wrong with her could it be something ,aking her not run right? apart from the timing?
10 degrees wont start when she is out she will start but run not good done everything
