hey
what are some things i can do to my t5 transmission while it is out of the car?
i want to make it shift a bit smoother (like a new transmission). is there anything i can do to it too make it a bit better?
Rebuild and a short shifter
can i do anything cheaper than a rebuild?
maybe do a flush and then put some new fluid in. and then maybe an anti friction treatment?
all i know is that they shift smoother on ATF (dexron3) with the lubrizol additive (penrite i think)
i guess i'm looking for a way to take away alot of the "play" in the gearstick, like make it less sloppy
Im pretty sure they had I bit of play from factory. I put a billet shifter in mine and it feels heaps nicer
Dont start an argument on that!!!! There is heaps of threads and it always ends in a good old JC bitch fight.
Everyone thinks something different, my understanding was VN- VP take 75w90 and then VR-VS take ATF DXT3 with the lubrizol additive. I know the VP factory holden manual at tafe says 75w-90 which is what i put in my VP t5 and it works fine and is now quieter then when it had atf.
lol my bad i didn't know there has been bitch fights over it, we run 75w-90 in the manual boxs at work and ATF in autos ... it just makes sence lol sorry
One of these will shorten your shifts: Gm RipShift
New fluid aswell will help. May aswell spray it too so it looks nice![]()
