Lately the fuel gauge in my VS Berlina has started to register nothing on the gauge no matter the amount of fuel in the tank. A quick tap on the gauge and it registers immediately to the amount in the tank. Once it's turned off it returns to no fuel registered the next time I turn it on. I haven't touched the instrument panel so I am ruling out a bad earth. Maybe the gauge is on the way out (strangely enough a gauge is still available through Holden) or maybe someone has a clue on a likely cause why it has started doing this. Constructive input welcome.
Hi mate, it is a very common issue in the VR and VS models.
Am fairly sure that it is just a sticky fuel needle and know of a lot of people that start the day with giving the dash a smack, myself included.
The votage regulator in the cluster will have a cracked solder joint - fix that before you buy a new gauge.
