    Default VS water pump

    Ok guys.
Im just about to replace my 3rd water pump in the 4 years iv had it.
I fitted the 1st one when I bought the car. The 1st one was leaking and the others start rumbling with no leaking...
They've all been the GMB types.
Any one else have premature pump failures?

Iv Replaced the water pump on my VX with the ones from super cheap, in a blue box cannot remember the brand, 50k later no drams.
The VR was a different storey though, got the car, was replaced just before i purchased the car, then about 20k later the water pump pulley and shaft went flying down the freeway including the belt pulley plate. so drove about 5kms to get to my dads with no power steering etc as the belt flew off. got to about 3/4 temp :S
replaced the pump with the same one as the VX, no dramas at all
They cost about $90 but well worth it, good quality

Replaced the water pump, hoses, thermostat and radiator recently during an engine changeover.

Never gets over a quarter. Have only heard the fan come on twice in one week. Never knew ecotecs can run so cool!!

I jsut did mine the other week Burson wanted a $100 (what a fing rip off) last time i did one cost me $30 through my old work nasons only 3 years ago. Anyway i got one from supercheap some el cheapo brand for $62.
Only complaint i have is that the ssnout on the shaft is smaller than the belt pulley which puts all the load on the small cheapo bolts that came with not ideal but you gotta do what you gotta do
