Just had help installing the VE upgrade kit to my VS SS and was halted very quickly - 2 of the high tensile allen key bolts that fasten the new calipers to the connecting brackets are missing.
One side is done but the car is now on stands til Tuesday, waiting for RDA to send them - ####!!!
Code stamped on top of bolt is YFS 12.9 and they are 40mm long (12.9 is the thread width)
A long shot I know, but where can I get 2 of these in Adelaide over the weekend so I dont have to taxi to work on Monday???
Here are some photos
12.9 is the tensile strength, go to a bolt supplier and take one of the other bolts with you, They will be able to give you the exact bolts.
Or you can go to the likes of supercheap or an auto parts store and they usually have the rack of bolts that you can get in different sizes, select the high tensile strength ones and get the right size you need, these will do the job for you.
They aren't any special type of bolt they are just a normal run of the mill high tensile bolt you can buy at any bolt supplier.
Hope this helps.
96 VS ute, L36 Auto.
Pacies, 2" catback, 18" RJR Shaddows
No more V8'S, GT35 TO GO ON SOON
Thanks mate!!
Future reference for anyone looking for "M12 sized high tensile allen cap bolts" (see photos) - Bunnings, Repco, Supacheap etc only have sizes up to M10
Gotta go to a specialist fastener place for sizes M12+
I'm in Adelaide and was told my only 2 options are:
1. United Fasteners
2. Universal Fasteners
so did you get the bolt your after.
did you buy the complete rda kit for ve upgraded brakes for vs
if so have you tried it out, plz tell me how much improvement their was once you get it all done
Nah, have to wait until United Fasteners open on Monday at 8am.
Yeah I did buy the complete kit unopened - just a factory packing mix up I spose - RDA are sending the bolts but wont arrive til Tuesday. Oh, well...
289mm single piston to 322mm twin piston VE should be great so I'll definately let you guys know how they go improvement wise![]()
I'd just grab 2 x 12mm hex head bolts to get you to work and around, then replace them with allen heads when you get the chance.

Just got home from United Fasteners and it only cost $3 for the 2 bolts (always the way... cheapest component keeps car of road!)
Anyway, finishing the install after work tonight so will post some photos later
Blackwoods would probably stock them just for future reference, but again i wouldnt think they wouldnt have been open on sundays
