Just a heads up for any others running the ECOTEC, you might want to take off your plenum cover and scrub the mother-####er coz it was ####ing filthy when I did it. burnt up chunks of rubber from the break assembly pressure release as well as burnt engine oil and petrol from the AFV.

I found this out while buffing my cover for better shine btw
Dude old news.... It's not from Brake dust either, its carbon build up.... WTF is a AFV? I'm going to take a guess and say Air filter valve... If that's correct there is no such thing as an Air Filter Valve on the Ecotec Commodores.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
Just so sick of seeing these threads, Its the second one in like a month or 2. I think there is even a how to on this.

make sure you clean all the IAC and TB passages to, that will help more than cleaning the chamber.
Yeh i found the same thing inside my plenum. If you go buy a can of carby cleaner from coventrys (its like $3) that shit rips the hell out of that scum, justs dissolves. I also used that stuff on my throttle butterfly and down my trumpets ( used a toothbrush and rag) and there was definitely a performance gain from just doing that. $3 can of carby cleaner and elbow grease was all it cost, i was stoked![]()
