Hey just wondering if you get a fine if your car is defective or do you just have to repair it?
I got $300 dollar fine, pretty sure its the case with all defects.
oh shit thanks for that
i find that for me that i only get the fine with the defect when i was actually caught doing things (speeding, burnout, etc.) but only get a defect when i have been "randomly" pulled over

And then there are also more costs involved when getting the defect cleared.
In WA it is the samei find that for me that i only get the fine with the defect when i was actually caught doing things (speeding, burnout, etc.) but only get a defect when i have been "randomly" pulled over

Here in VIC a road worthy can be anywhere between $80.00 to $200.00 depending on what mechanic you go to,
That being said after i got my defect my mechanic gave me the road worthy for free, considering it cost me over $1500.00 to pass -_-
Also as AutoSnipe mentioned a fine would really come if you were pulled over for a reason, rather than just randomly (or "randomly").
Though im sure a fine would come along with major things like driving a V8 or supercharged car outside of your lisence allowance.
In the act, you can get one or the other or both. Normally it's just the defect. But if you even think about being a smartarse they won't hesitate to fine you. Or if you get an asshole copper. IF you know its unroadworthy, to low whatever make sure you dont atract attention to yourself then lol
True. Sometimes it might pay to act like a naive scared young person that had no clue that there was anything wrong with your car and swear that you wouldn't be driving if you had of known. This is of course when you know your up the shit.
And do what i do, tell your mechanic (if you have a personal friendship with them) that if you ever get caught with a defectable subject due to something breaking that you'll tell the police officer that your already booked in on whatever day to get it fixed, so that you can call him and he can then confirm it with the cop if they want to speak to them. This might get you off a little easier like it did for me when my horn stopped working and my exhaust was hanging too low due to broken hangers, of course never a guarantee that it will get you off anything though.
I dont give them anything to defect me for,I make sure everythings spot on,that way I always have the last laugh as I drive off with no fines etc.
