Hi all newby here and lovin it, one question, is the tailshaft in a VR IRS the same as a live or solid axle???
Cheers Nikki.
I'm going to have a guess as no one has answered yet.
No, they would be different for sure. The centre in the irs is fixed to the chassis and driveline flex is handle by the cv's.
In a solid diff, the centre floats and driveline flex is handled by the tailshaft.
This would be best served by two different tailshafts.
Wait for confirmation though.
BowTie is correct. The Flange yoke on the diff end may also be different as they have different diffs but im not really sure on that. The tailshaft for an IRS car has a CV joint after the centre bearing. Id say the front half of the shaft would probably be the same tho
Hi again, turns out the tailshafts are exactly the same after all, found it out the hard way lol.
Cheers Nikki.
