Hi all. I have just removed a good running engine out of a VS to put into a statesman. Now thats its out. Is there annoying i should do go it before it goes in. It's pretty dirty. The heads were done 2 years ago, the coolant was orange it has been running on gas but will be running on petrol in the stato.
I was thinking of changing all the gaskets but not if i dont have to.
Cheers for any replies.
have a good leak around the rear mail seal, if its a bit weepy replace it
welch plugs might not be a bad idea while its out
also sump gasket if it looks like it has been leaking from there as well
i'd have a good look at any gaskets or parts that are hard to replace when in the enginebay
I would take the sump off for sure. Clean and new gasket.
Anything else can be done in the car.
i would put new engine mounts in as well
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
Spark plugs could also possible be gapped for gas.

Honestly you should replace anything that might fail that you cant really do once it all goes back together. Then again that would be a full rebuild![]()
Cool. Thanks
