vs statesman problem, possible emobiliser problem?

ok so i went to start my car last night and when i turned the key it would turn the ignition on and everything but it wouldnt start my engine.

the battery is fine.

its not the starter motor.

after i turned the key fully nothing happened.
it didnt even try and start.

could it be my emobiliser?
my barel lock?



has anyone else had thsi problem.

I have a Vr Calais that does the same thing regularly its an issue with the the dick in the key head not contacting the metal ring around the ignition and also the stato does it on rare occasions I usually just press the unlock button on the key head and it will start straight away ,but also check your gear shifter neutral/park safety switch is adjusted properly aswell

You say it's not the battery or starter motor. Can you confirm whether this means that the starter motor is turning over the engine OK but the engine does not fire? If so, it could be a Theft Deterrent Problem. Refer to the info below. Have you checked if any DTCs have been set?

Theft Deterrent Input
When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) will request from the Body Control Modules (BCM) Theft Deterrent System permission to start the engine. This request will be sent on the serial data circuit 1221. If the BCM has received the correct security code from the remote coded key, the BCM will respond by enabling the start relay. The BCM will then give the PCM permission to start, this allows the PCM to enable the fuel control system.

Should the PCM upon requesting permission to start, not receive any reply from the BCM within two seconds, the PCM will not enable the fuel control system and will set a DTC 31.

If the correct security code is not detected by the BCM from the remote coded key within two seconds of the ignition being turned ON the BCM will then monitor for Radio Frequency (RF) signal output from the remote coded key doors button. If the BCM receives the correct RF signal output from the remote coded key, the BCM will then enable the start relay and give the PCM’s engine management control system permission to start. This feature allows engine starting should there be a malfunction with the remote coded key reader assembly.

Should the BCM not receive any communication from the PCM with the ignition switched ON, the BCM will enable the start relay after one second delay. The engine will crank, but will not start as the PCM has not enabled the fuel control system (no fuel is injected).

i have a similar problem with my series three stato , my security system will not enable at all , ie no security light flashing , key remote will not do anything , i can turn on the ignition with the key and all dash lights come on, but car will not crank at all , i have been told it could be a problem with the bcm , any ideas guys , any help would be appreciated

If the security light is NOT flashing, then the security system should be disarmed and the car should start. If its not even attempting to crank over,and seeing the security light is not flashing, theres probably a problem with the body control module (BCM). Remember that if you replace the BCM with another from a wrecked car, then make sure you get the same level BCM as your old one, as theres a few different levels of BCM used in the commodore/statesman etc, and some are not interchangeable. You will also need the keyfob from the same car that the BCM comes from, you will need to change your ignition key over onto the new keyfob, as the BCM and the keyfob are both securilty linked to eachother.
