Hey guys, i have just noticed that my front chassis rail (i think that is what it is) is rusted pretty badly. I have owned this car for less than 2 years, so I don't really know how this happened.
Is this fixable, and if so, about how much would it set me back?
Cheers
Phil
Post a picture to show exactly what you mean as it could just be surface rust. It's only a problem when it penetrates the steel and leaves a hole.

Dirty coolant can make things look rusty, maybe there is a leak in the cooling system?
There are no holes, but it didn't look great to me. I also have some other pics of some rusty spots in my car, what would you advise I do about them?
Front Rail
Under Bonnet
Sorry if the pics are too high res, or don't work, it's my 1st time uploading pictures to a forum
bump, what should I do?
bump it up
anybody care to tell me how bad this is and what my next course of action should be?
Looks like a leaky raidator had caused that or its been near salt water... Only thing anyone could think of is to clean it up, mostly looks like surface rust
Alright that sounds better than I first expected. If I angle grinded it as well as I could, then covered it in rustkill or something similar, then primed and painted, would the rust come straight back? The radiator I have at the moment, which is the one that came on the car, does not leak, so this must have been a problem from quite a while ago.
I'd just wire brush it and also have a dig at the deeper bits with a flat screwdriver. Then apply some rust stop...Ferropro or the one from SuperCheap, wait till it dries and then either brush paint it or use a spraycan to make it look new. It's certainly not structural....just cosmetic really.
