    Default custom boot advice/help/ideas

    G'day everyone
i have a vs sedan and just felt like doing a custom boot sort of thing
not overly custom like a ricer but like putting the amp under the floor
like building it an area with mdf and wood so it opens like a door to get to the amp
then having the sub in the normal boot sitting flat because the bump is gone. (yes
someone on here has done exactly that, which is where the idea come from but i dont
want to copy someone else as much).
so would anyone have any ideas or advice or help on how to do this, i probably wont use just
1 persons idea, probably a mixture of a few, depending on how many people comment.

    Thanks.
    Corey

So basically you wanna make a false floor in the boot and mount the amp under it and recess a sub into it yeah? Can be done, but the biggest issue is how you gonna get the spare out if u need to! You need to design somthing that mounts around the spare wheel OR you could put in a false floor and cut a large round hole over the tyre spot(like a plug) so you can get to the tyre and you can mount the amp under that spot.
Also cutting the profile of the boot in mdf is a pitta, In the past i have used sheets of that 3mm backing ply (cause its cheap and flexible) to cut up as a template, and it dosnt matter if you balls it up cause its cheap and only a template you can glue back and re-shape again. Then once you got it, trace it onto your sheet of mdf.

well not exactly that because someone else on here had that done but something along those lines. yeah it will be around the spare wheel.
also any other ideas?? i will have a about a $500 limit though, but i have the sub and amp already so thats alright, and also how would i put neons in the boot, i managed to put em under the seats and footrests in the car but the boot seems a bit far away from the battery or any power wires unless i use the boot light lines??
thats heaps for the advice on what stuff to use and how to make a template
would the carpet still fit in without being cut?? also i would want like a door to get to the amp so on hinges in the floor so how would i stick the carpet down to everyone?? staple gun or glue??

With the custom boot idea, open your boot, and stare at it for as long as you can and visualize something. As neons, running them from your amp, ground is ground and positive is the remote wire so the neon is on only when the amp is on. Or same deal, but with the positive to positive and a switch inline.

You can buy new boot carpet/fabric from somwhere like spotlight, you may even choose somthing completely different like green for example. You can spread som "quik grip" on the mdf and stick the carpet to it, but could also just stretch it across the mdf and not worry, cause its not gonna move or anything. As long as you wrap it nicely around the edges and underneath it will sit nicely on its own + if you got the sub cut in somwhere that will also hold it. You will need scissors of stanly knife to cut the carpet as it rolls over the edges. Search youtube, theres tonnes of vidz on carpeting sub box's, even doing custom firbre glass setups, which you may decide on as they dont look that hard to do.

Heres an example of a single sub box http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9Snm3SRzeA but theres whole boot setups there too
