yeah mate will fit but you will have to cut up the surround a bit....i modified the surround with a plastic piece and some fibreglass so they sit really nice in there. have a look in my thread (Brendo's HSV Senator 355 Stroker) pics on first pages

Hey mate, I'm in the process of doing the same. Instead I'm putting three 2inch gauges in under there. I bought a mounting plate kind of like this one: VN VP VR VS Commodore 2" Polished Stainless Gauge Mount | eBay
Instead mine is plastic with a matte finish so it fits in a bit more. If you search vs gauges on ebay they surface quite often. These fit straight in and all you need to do is cut the back of your pocket out.

alright it took me about a week and a bit to do just little bits each day

    Tools and Materials
Various grits of wet and dry sandpaper
    knife
    hacksaw
    sanding blocks
    plastic filler
something to make the back panel out of (i actually used mdf belive it or not)
    fibreglass resin and hardner
    drill and hole saw piece
    araldite

Alright so first step was to cut out the tray bit and make a nice rectangle in the original surround (the bit that now recesses with the gauges)
then i smoothed it all out really nice so it was perfectly square and looking sweet
then i cut up a but of mdf to fit in the hole and angle it back slightly so it angles up towards your eyes
drilled holes in the mdf using a hole saw
    glued the mdf in place
applied fibreglass resin everywhere to coat the mdf and fill as many gaps as possible (you will find there will be a substantial gap at the top)
once resin has hardened i sanded for many many MANY hours
this is the key step as it determines the ultimate finish
then i applies some more plastic filler and resin in the low spots until i was satisfied
Painted it all up and finito!

im not really that crafty and i had a few goes at this but im real happy with the result
i would say it cost me around 50 bucks all up

its worth try, maybe even buy a second surround from a wrecker so you dont have to worry about it
