Hey guys, I've just scored a 6 seater vr wagon off a good mates uncle, but he wants his heavy duty towing gearbox back. I'm wondering if a standard T-Bar auto will fit straight in, or will i have to chase up another column shift gearbox.
Or is there small mods i can do to make the T-Bar fit.
P.S, i want to keep it column shift.
any help would be great!
Would be interested in this too i got a coluum shift wagon (####ing awesome by the way) i heard some say gearbox is different but i dont see how. All thatd be different is the linkage for gearbox selector which is on outside of box anyway i cant see holden redisgning a gearbox just for coluum shift be much easier just to redesign a linkage system

yeah ive searched everywhere, google, other commodore forums. I think i might just go buy a written off 3 seater ute from the auctions or somthing..
Thanks for your help anyway mate
Yeah mate, it can be done. Just check on the side of the trans through the engine bay what's printed on the trans tunnel (6hdd etc) to make sure what your swapping will work.
I was looking going tbar, and a few places now have said the below:
"
The selector in the trans has to be swapped over, the 7HCD will have a longer selector shaft, because the inhibitor switch bolts to the trans rather to the shifter in the car.
Its pretty easy to swap the shafts over if you know what your doing. Sump off, remove the detent spring. remove the 14mm nut on the inside of the shaft, unclip the spacer. its a good idea to get a small file and remove the small chamfer that the nut creates, its important to do this other wise it the shaft will be extremely tight in the bore.
then just slide the good shaft in and bolt it up."
Yes it will. I had a one put in my column shift VR a while back. It just required some modding to suit the column shift linkages
thanks for your help guys, ive found a written off column shift ute at the auctions i hope to pick up at the auctions for next to nothing and i'll go from there!
