    Default Cold air intake box

    Hey guys
    i was looking at my cold air intake box today and wanted to cut the bottom of the box for more air
    do i just cut the bottom of the box underneath the filter?

    yea m8 attack the bottem i had the vs hsv cowling over the top i put some wholes in the bottem of mine as well with ducting to get some more air flow as well worked as a little improvment but not running that any more due to modificatons to me v8 i been looking at mucking around with a vt air box atm to go with me 90 mm throttle body

    how big should the wholes be?

    I made mine from the edge to the edge but you don't have to go to that extreme.

    Bigger the better mate i did it to mine its actually heaps more responsive now

    Wraith, if you cut the bottom of the airbox from edge to edge what about the snorkel??? Did you modify that?? Could you take a pic for us??

    Haha I just chucked the snorkel in the bin. Didn't see much point in keeping due to the box now acting like a huge air scoop.

    Ohhhhh right.

    But wouldn't you wanna try and capture some cooler air from the front somewhere as opposed to the general hot air floating around in the engine bay? Especially when sitting in traffic?

    yeah cutting the whole bottom off would make it suck in hot air which if your another p plater looking for easy power, there would be no point

    I run a piece of pool hose from the fog light hole to the air box so its got direct cool air, just wanna see wat else can be done without the holden cai

    I just cut the air box today about 20-30cm at the bottom
    should i go bigger?

    Haha you really think it's going to get hot air? You assume an engine bay is a completely sealed off area do you forget as your driving air will be flowing behind the headlight into the airbox?
