Default Squeak coming from VS Sedan

    Hi Guys.

Over the last few weeks my VS has started to develop a loud squeak from the rear end

It only occurs while going over bumps or a hard corner, so my suspicion was worn suspension or strut bushes but both were in good condition (even moistened them up with some silicon spray) and nope the squeak was still there.....then checked the panhard rod bushes and control arm bushes and they checked out too.

It almost sounds as if its coming from inside the cabin (at the rear near the parcel shelf/rear seats) but I just can't quite put my finger on it

Nothing seems to be loose and it does sound like a suspension squeak but the noise just doesn't seem to be coming from that area

    Any ideas

    Thanks

The struts are on the front of the car but the shocks are on the rear and Im sure that the shocks have had it.Or you have a mouse in the boot.

Have a look inside the boot where the shock absorbers are on both sides - they have a black rubber cover....pull cover off and spray with WD40....see if it goes away.

mate i know exactly what it is, my ute has the same problem and i had no idea what was going on untill i just layed underneath for about a half hour and then i saw that the rubber on my control arm on the diff shat itself and the bolt was rubing against the arm and the squeek travelled throught the car and made it sound like it was near the cabin, i am quite sure your car will have the same problem

    Thanks mate.

I think you are probably on the mark there

Will get it up on ramps this weekend and take a look.

I got the exact same noise in my vs sedan, it does sound like its coming from the parcel shelf. I know its not suspension rubbers and i replaced them all. Made it before and after the change. I just assumed it was either the cardboard parcel shelf moving about or possibly a spot weld broke and getting some movement in the metal under it.

Would be interested to see how it works out for you

Ok, stuck the car up on ramps this arvo and turned out to be a dry upper trailing arm bush.

Sprayed some silicone spray on it and no more squeak
