Default Vehicle doesn't run on gas after backfire

My mates got an imco gas system on his car and after experiencing a backfire (i suspect through the induction system), the vehicle will refuse to run on gas now but is completely healthy on petrol. He has had leads, spark plugs, air filter, resetted the gas system by a mechanic to no avail. If anyone has had simlar experiences, any info whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers guys

I had this problem a while back mate, take it to a gas mechanic and they will be able to fix it up, i can almost guarantee you that the backfire blew the head off your gas mixer, this happened to me twice in 2 weeks when i had the problem. The back fires are almost always caused by old plugs and leads, so get them replaced while your there and you shouldn't have a problem with it back firing anymore. Get them to replace the mixer (cost me $40.00 about a year ago) and that should fix the problem. Its a pretty common thing with un serviced or poorly serviced duel fuel systems. Also check your air box as you may have cracked that as well.
As said above, duel fuel systems do commonly have problems, unless you get it serviced regularly.
I get my car serviced between every 5000 to 10,000 k's by my mechanic, and take it to a good gas mechanic that i know around the same time and i haven't had any issues in a very long time.
    Hope this helps mate.

Edit: i apologize for not reading your post in full and mentioning leads and plugs :P
But still, head off the gas mixer
