AFAIK In NSW, you have to have all 4 tyres and wheels the same size and profile for it to pass rego inspections/to be registerable.

So, it may be a bit of a grey area, but if you're going to the Easternats I wouldn't risk it. Cops will be looking for anything to defect people.

I dont see a problem with it . youve got both the rears at 15's and fronts are both 17's

Id say its more dangerous if you have 1 on the rear after putting the spare on after a flatty.
they allow that which is stupid

Pretty sure the rule is rears must be the same or larger than the front unless it's a spare which is suitably speed rated. Makes sense - smaller/narrower tyre on the rear = less grip = bigger chance of rear lock up and spinning the car under heavy braking.

+ p plater stocky rears = epic fail.

    well there ya go....
every commodore ive owned has been slammed and spent a fair bit of time with stockies on the back due 2 camber wear and ive never been picked up on it... even with 20s on the front (which i can understand if i did get done)
but gettin done with 16s on front and 15s rear is just ridiculous.. even 17s

alot safer to have roadworthy 15s on the rear than bald 17s
if u that worried about it just get 2 cheap 17" tyres for now
