    Default v8 oil leak

hey all my 5l v8 has developed an oil leak on the drivers side it drips a few drops on to the ground so it seems to me as if its pretty bad. it looks like its coming from the top of the motor somewhere as theres a bit of oil on top of the gearbox and running down and burning on the y-branch. ive checked the bak of the rocker cover and it seems to be dry so where else could it be coming from up top thanx heaps for any help

Double check it is not dirty power steering oil, the low pressure hose suffers heat damage and slowly fails over time.

The two main areas that Ive come across,is the front right hand corner of the intake manifold (or the back in your case) and the rocker cover gaskets.
Sumps can weep a bit to, but there generally ok.

There is an o ring under the dizzy. If that breaks or perishes it also will leak oil down the back of the motor.

i suggest you use an inspection mirror & a light to see if it is the gasket for the inlet manifold valley or the distributor.
My valley gasket blew out & I've got to replace mine, & a sump gasket to boot.

Can also be caused by the rear main seal leaking. You really need to get your car up on ramps (or stands). Clean everything off with spray can degreaser followed by water. Drive it around for 10 kms or so and then put it back on ramps (or stands) and see where the leaks are coming from. 5l oil leaks are very frustrating !!!

pull the manifold off bud with all the 14mm or 9/16 bolts buy the manifold gaskets and clean up ur gasket surface use a bit of gasket glue to hold em on bud some valey cover gaskets come with a double sided tape to help keep them in position i would drop ur water though cause when u take the manifold off it be full of water
