Hey guys/girls
i have a problem with my vs
the air bag lid on the passenger side is popping off. I've searched for solutions but basically all the info I've obtained thus far say's i cant get a new one from Holden, and its very hard to find a replacement lid of good quality.
so i got thinking WHAT IF i ripped out the current dash and passenger airbag, and put in another dash from a series 1 or a vr.. which doesn't have the passenger airbag. can this be done?
highly doubtable, as this would effectively eliminate a safety feature. it probably could be done, but I wouldn't do it personally, I would just deal with the peelingness, and keep the safety.
i think someone took out the lid and got it reupholstered once, probably a lot easier
I believe the cover can be re-glued to the lid but the dash has to be removed to do it.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
Whatever you do you need to be careful. The cover splits horizontally to let the airbag out. Any resistance over and above what has been designed into the cover means that deployment can be severely compromised. We are talking about thousands of a seconds here in terms of deployment.
I believe he means "Thousandths" of a second...
Otherwise, "thousands" of seconds would be over 16mins! (Super, SUPER slow-mo airbag!)

haha, no i think i might leave it as is. i went scouting for a new cover today and was unlucky with finding one in fairly good cond.
I'm thinking of actually selling this vs and buying one without the airbag cover issue. i think its the VR or VS series one that dont have these passenger air bags in them.
or i might even buy a VT........but i love the shape of the VSanyways guys thanks once again for offering tips and advice.
