guy's my calais has a vibration that is felt in cabin at idle in drive(around 700rpm on the tach) i sort of annoys me and i know it shouldnt be there. when i put the tranny into park the rev's raise a little and the problem is better but still feels grindy through the floor/seat's. when driving the car is very smooth indeed and no problem. any thought's? harmonic balancer??
also when the engine is cold when going form drive to park at traffic light's the idle will go below 700 at time's for a very brief period then catches itself back up to the 700. thought's
Your transmission mount may need doing, mine does this as well
interesting!! i just did the 2 on my muffler hang they were very soft/saggy, ill check the tranny one's, thanks brother.
My old vs did this, does it get worse braking? my engine mount broke and it done exactually what your describing
did you fix this problem
I would put my money on either engine or trans mounts (maybe even both, my subaru had both shot and the vibration was shocking)
trying to get some money together to hand over to a mechanic friend of mine, the car is great besides this. ill keep ya's posted and big thanks for all the replies
I had a similar problem in my old vg, when the chain had been changed the idler wasn't put back on correctly.
idled too low hence the vibrations and low revs. might be worth a look
we have looked at the engine mounts already and my supposed mate(mechanic) said they are stuffed i looked also and agreed. just wasnt happy with the 260 install price. fingers crossed this fixes it.
he know's im a bargain hunter/ebay hound/treade electrician, i rarely get shafted that's for sure.
