Hi guys, I have a problem with my cruise control, that is it just doesnt work, nothing happens when i press the buttons. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know whats wrong? Cheers
I've had this happen recently. The wires in the indicator stalk broke and the cruise stopped working. I got a new stalk thinking the switches were knackered. But a bit of solder would have fixed it just as well.
I aim to misbehave.
Does you interior light work? check the fuse for you cd player in the fuse box, also check #7 that runs your cruise control aswell, quite funny 3 fuses are linked to the one thing, and 2 of them dont even say they are
It could not be turning on to begin with. Under the dash on top of the brake pedal lever, theres your brake light switch and the one above it is for cruise control, maybe it's incorrectly adjusted
Cheers guys.
I was considering changing the indicator stalk, I may still do it.
All interior lights work as well as cd player but ill check them all anyway.
Ill look into the break pedal thingy too.
Thanks again.
Hi folks. I have checked some things in regards to my cc. I replaced the wiring and curcuit board in the stalk and now i get the green "CRS" light, however the orange "ON" doesnt engage. In the photo i have attached i have circled where i believe a relay should be on the fuse board but theres nothing there to even plug one into and the other circle, are they the brake switches? if yes, what do i have to do to check them? It is a Berlina so has factory cruise. Cheers for any help.
Hey mate , my dads gotta VS Statesman.
I was havin trouble today with cruise on my VR. i checked the VS statesman .
The pic u have of the brake switches are right... Just put multi meter on wires.. one on earth and one on the pink wire , should be power there , once u press brake pedel it should cut power out...
As for the relays something weird there .. The statesman ( vs ) has 2 small relays in there ( where u circled ) and 1 is for the cruise
Hope this was a help
Cheers mate ill check with the multimeter an see how it goes... yeah according to the fuse panel legend in that gap goes "cc relay" and "driver wdo relay". anyone else know what the deal is there?
Ive seen on Berlina's at the wreckers that they are missing too...
Here is a pic of the relay on my peasant Exec
Edit...checked the wiring diagram and it's only low series that have the relay.
Edit again....the brake switches operate opposite to each other....one breaks the circuit and the second makes the circuit.....it is usually the left hand one that goes out of adjustment.

sorry, just saw ur edits. by left u mean the top one?? how does one re-align it?
By the left one I mean the switch most left...actually it's better described as the topmost brake switch - before you adjust it, try removing the connector and bridge the terminals with a piece of wire and then see if the light comes on when you select cruise.. To adjust, you push the top (CC) switch in whilst holding the brake pedal down...you will hear it click as the switch moves in....then release the pedal, and pull the pedal up towards the stop...you'll hear clicks again. However, do the bridge the connector test first...or if you have a multimeter test the switch. The actual brake switch will be working if your brake lights come on OK.
I'm not knowledgeable!!!...just been thru this myself.
The red wire is simply a cable I ran to a hot connector ....just some of my bodgy work.

cool ill check it out over the next few days, cheers.
Ive been investigating the similar problem in my VS,the green CRS light turns on,but the orange ON doesnt light up and the cruise wont set.I had checked the blinker stalk wiring, the brake pedal "cruise cancel" switches, the relay, and found nothing wrong..Ive since found that it was the cruise control module, which is located under the bonnet near the airbox(V6), thats faulty. To test it, I just unplugged the wiring from the old module, plugged in another spare module I got hold of,and I got the CRS light working and the cruise would now set like it should. So if you cant find any other problems, then its worth plugging in another cruise module to make sure that the module itself is not faulty..
cheers, ill give that a go too... see how freindly my local wrecker is an see if theyll let me test it before i buy it...
To test the module, you will need to be driving along over 40kph for the cruise to engage.Instead of driving along,I just jacked up one of the rear wheel so I didnt have to actually drive the car along as I just had the new cruise module sitting under the bonnet with just the wiring connected to it,I hadnt removed the old module or connected the throttle cable to the new module at that stage..If you arent real sure about running the car in gear whilst up on a jack, which obviously has to be done carefully, and in an area that if something goes wrong and the car falls, the car cant go anywhere, then a safer way would be to tie the new module to something under there with tie wire so it doesnt fall out, and then just drive the car on the road to see if the cruise now sets and if the ON light now comes on..
