VR engine number

Just had another engine put in son's VR. Its a Buick V6 and just wondering where I can find the engine number on the block

I'm not a 100% sure but i think it's on the front under the water pump.

i was thinking somewhere up under near where the coil packs are
they are a bugger to see as they are made up of small dots, like inverted brail

and if its got grease or oil on it gets tricky to see
