Maybe you got a bad batch of fuel
I had one once from a dodgy independent servo in my subaru and it ran like a dog and ruined my fuel filter
Replaced the filter, went back to good ol BP Ultimate and all was well
Hope its that simple for you
if its ONLY ever done it since the fuel was put in and its not ethanol you put in instead of your normal fuel you use;
(note: on first use ethanol absorbs the moisture in your fuel tank and can cause light misfire, on second full tank of use this should stop)
take some fuel from you car and put it into a glass,
(youll need a fuel line disconnect tool OR fuel filter off then turn key with a mate catching fuel)
*DONT TIP IT OUT OF YOUR FILTER FOR THIS TEST*
let it sit for a few minutes
if when its "settled" there is a clear section and a fuel section you have water in your fuel,
(it will seperate after a short time)
*if its all clean and clear liquid fuel then skip to bottom*
also it should be a nice clean colour put a photo up of it if not....
e.g. brown etc and NAME THE SERVO
youll need the tank drained if its full of water or wrong fuel etc....
if its been MISFIRING recently especially UNDER LOAD in TOP GEAR (as you described)
check plugs leads etc,,, a search on here will give you details on how to check this stuff over
good luck!~
thanks guys for the advice.. this is good advice.. hopefully it is just the fuel, seems to be running like a combie....

The coil pack has had it
Thanks guys for all your input... I changed the filter and I noticed that the leads needed replacing, looks like one was snipped with a stanley blade and taped up.... however still its losing power if I take off from a standing start and jolts like it is trying to get fuel through and then just sorts itself out... Think I will have to pull the tank off and clean it and replace the filter again... just seems to be shit in there... the other filter when I emptied the fuel into a glass it was black and so dirty, did not see any traces of water which was probably a good sign....
Any other thoughts would be good.... I will do the tank this weekend whilst I change over the suspension...
