ive searched through countless other threads but cannot find an answer.
recently the Central Locking in my Vs s3 Ute will not work properly.
when using the button the key it unlocks the passenger door but not the drivers door.
when the button is held down to unlock drivers door then passenger door, there is nothing happening when it used to unlock the drivers door.
Using the Key and turning the lock the doors unlock fine.
it does have a fairly new actuator as we replaced it early in 2010
i used to be able to "tap" the wires in where the door is hinged, however this hasnt sorted it out.
this has been an intermittent problem that seems to right it self, however this time is hasnt corrected itself
any ideas?
pull out your BCM... and carefully pry the clips open and have a look inside your BCM.
I had the same problem with my VS series II Sedan, the driver door didn't/stopped working with the remote... I replaced the actuator to no avail... so i opened up my BCM, and surprise, i found a blown track on the circuit board and a couple of blown resistors...
So i replaced the resistors and repaired the wire tracks and yes... it worked again, but not before it blew the new resistor and stopped working again...
I think it might be something else on the circuit board thats gone out of limits and providing too much current to that part of the curcuit...
So i did a one up... i soldered a heavy duty wire across 2 of the plug pins (on the inside of the BCM)
so now, when you press "UNLOCK" ... ALL doors unlock ... and when you press "LOCK" ... ALL doors lock.
Let me know how you go looking inside your bcm... if it is what i just described, I'll pull my BCM out and take a photo for you to show you which pins i joined and how...
Cheers!
thanks for the info, ill have a look in there as soon as i can (today being mothers day and all)
went to auto elec, as i havent had time to pull anything out (yet)
said it may be a loose plug thus meaning the door trim has to come off
or it may be a break in the wire (as it appears to power is going to it)
ill let you guys know how it goes when i have a look at it (wont be for a bit over a week)
and depending on problem let you guys know how to check/fix it
sounds very similar to a problem i had with my vs ute, except it was the passenger door that wouldn't work
so i pulled off my door trims and pulled out the actuator, thinking that was the problem, but i tested it on another circuit and it worked fine, once all that was done i stuck it back in and it still didnt work properly, so i just fiddled around with the connecter both to the BCM and the actuator its self and sprayed a bit of electrical contact cleaner and it worked now both doors work fine, so im thinking that is a connection/wiring problem like panthaVS has said.
hey guys sorta got the same problem i press the button and my interor lights just turn on but my doors are still lockI LOOKED At the fusers but that wasnt the problem i try tracing the wires but lost

i know this isnt the exact problem and sorry if im posting this in the wrong place, but i have central locking in my sedan and all doors unlock but when i try to lock back door on drivers side doesnt lock
any help would be appreciated.
learning about the rig!!!!! most of your era holden has problems with the BCM or connections, wires, and just dust, burnt out actuator.
It is easily sorted. if you are good with a multi meter or spent time on cars and half decent at fault finding. clean all conections, check all plugs, wires and even rust that you can see from the out side will stop the doors from working well. Once you a happy the all connection and the BCM are correct or cleaned it should be ok again. if it is only one door it is more than likely a connection or componant in that door.
Id pull the door trim off and then unplug the wiring to the actuator. Grab your test light and while pressing unlock and then lock, see if it lights up. If not, then pull the right side kick panel and look for the wiring going to the door. From memory there should be a green plug that connects the door loom. Probe the green plug on the interior side to see if the signal from the BCM is being received. You can then determine fi its the wiring from the door to kick panel that you need to look at more closely or if its the BCM side of things. By the sounds of it, the door loom wiring has a break it in if previously you were able to get it to work by "tapping" the wiring where it routes through the door.
Do you have the key with just one button? Your car might not even have remote central locking installed. Check the central locking fuse (number 7 i think) and see if there are two pins on it.
yeah i wont be able to look at it until sunday (coz of work etc)
ill probably bring my multimeter home from work and just check the continuity in the wires, same as i would do at work (being a sparky apprentice)
but yeah first check will be to see if the connection is loose, then it may mean chasing the wire back.
if its none of the above it may be the bcm, but when i did see the auto elec he said alot of wires break where the door hinge area is, so id be pretty positive to say its that.
ill let you guys know what happen, and how to fix it... (electrical tape all the way =P)
yea igot it installed cause i got a car aralm aswell and it use to work
