I was wondering, how do you go about painting the trim between the rear lights on a vs commodore, i have a white vs acclaim and im just wondering whats the best way to do it and get a glossy, non peeling finish. cheers
Just like you would paint anything really. I used a can of plastic primer and a can of white. Was close enough you didn't notice it wasn't factory.

and its always better to do 1000 light coats then 2-3 heavy coats of paint
Cheers ill give it a go, how could i tell if my paint it acrilic or 2 pac? the colour code is j064 and it is aparently called alaskan white?
Just give autobarn your paint code, and they'll mix up some paint for you, $30 for a spray can.... did it to my car 100% match on the paint![]()
Yeah they can colour match your paint. I bought the standard white because it was something stupid like $2.50 and I was bored one weekend.

oh k, so would you reccomend the colour match or just the cheap stuff?
also do all series 1 vs commys have 2 pac paint?
cheers boys
It really is up to you for the ultimate match go the colour coding. You could barely tell at the best of times I used a cheap spray can. Looked ok to me so I didn't bother messing with it any more.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
yeah i might just go the cheap way out
anyway anyone know if series 1 vs commys have acrylic or 2 pac paint? cheers
i think all vs's have 2pac paint...doesnt matter that the spraycan is acrylic tho
They were 2pac paint from the VP onwards but yes the spray can's are acrylic.

i was checking cause i wanna remove the trolley strips too, and aparently its a bitch if your paints acrylic, so i wanted to know if vs commys have 2 pac paint.
i hope so!
They have a polyester basecoat (Which is two pack) with an acrylic clear.
so if i removed the trolley strips with a carmel wheel, will it remove the paint? cheers
the point of useing a carmel wheel is it removes the glue but not the paint, but if you hold it in one spot for too long it can burn the paint, but with saying that, i removed mine a while ago and the paint under them was completely stuffed, if i sand back around that area and respray it with paint from autobahn matched with my colour code, will it look alright?
ill give the trolley strips and the trim a go and post up some before and afters.
