Default Much Difference in Stock or Aftermarket V6 Engine Mounts

Cheers, I am going to change my engine mounts and transmission mount as part of reshining up my VS ute. A search pulled up a few "How To Change" but I found nothing on the actual mounts.
Is there any noticeable difference between the stock oil filled mount and the cheaper solid rubber mount? The oil filled mount probably does transfer less vibration and noise as claimed but is it noticeable sitting in one car with stock mounts or another without stock mounts? Thanks gazza

the genuine mounts are oil filled and provide less engine vibration through the car. non gen are solid rubber and you cant really notice to much of a difference and then theres rigid mounts for higher power cars. i havent used them before but am thinking about it if i do another engine mount.

Thanks, I am not sure which way I will go yet. I was told my mounts were a "bit doughy' when my roadworthy was done a few months back. I haven't noticed any undue vibration yet but being used to a Cruiser ute with a turbo 2H says a bit.ROTFL

My mounts werent broken but had collapsed, the engine sat about an inch higher in the engine bay after new mounts were fitted. It also got rid of a slight mid car vibration I was getting at around 80 k's...

    Interesting thread !

Oil and rubber don't like each other so if Holden had them filled with oil, maybe that helps the mount deteriorate faster???

The mounts I attempted to change in my VS last weekend were identical to the replacement ones a mate gave me that he purchased on ebay.
They have a big "K" stamped on each mount, and look identical.
The driver side mount is easy to change, but the passenger one is a real pita to line up the holes in the cross-member.
I gave up in the end and put the old well and truly broken 2 piece one back in until I change the engine next weekend.

Vibration is not a problem until I hit 100 klm/h. At 115 klm/h and above, the vibration stops and all is good again.
The vibration I get at 100 slightly shakes the steering wheel like the front wheels are out of balance.. (they may be out of balance as I have not had the car long)

iirc its not filled with oil but a glycol type fliud, the same fliud that is used in the vt-vz and ve frt strut bar bushes.
