Hi i have a VR wagon and have been having problems starting it got it serviced and was told by place that it was the BCM, what is this and how do i fix it, i have the book but doesnt say anything about it or tell me where it is, where would i go to get it fixed an what sort of price am i looking at? any help would be good.
thanks jenn
hi jenn
what sort of trouble are you having starting it , what is the vehicle doing
does it matter if the engine is warm or cold
the BCM is the body control module, you can get them cheap enough 2nd hand, but you will need the matching key heads from the bcm you are buying or the security sytem wont let your vehicle start if you use your existing key heads you have
also is you buy another one there are different levels of them example low , medium, high depending on if your vehicle has power windows, cruise control etc
you will need to know what level yours is

bcm is a body control module>>>>>>>>>>>t could be a huge number of different things but without taking a look i'd say check the earth feed for the control module.
Failing that i woould check the feeds at the control module and ensure you are receiving everything you need to.
i definitly would not just trust the holden dealership that it "might" fix it
especially for that sort of money.
and when the car does not start does it crank or just beep?
You could even try borrowing one from a similar model car and check to see if it fix's your problem.
But again without looking at it, it's really hard to say.
We ALL HAVE 1 THING IN COMMON:THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF GRIP
where abouts is the bcm in the car as i have the book but cant find it in there.
when i try starting it i turn the key and it makes a churning noise as though it pumping the fuel through and sometimes it starts but most of the time it just goes quiet and doesnt turn over or anything its really frustrating, i took me 5 minutes of continuously turning the key before it started the other morning. it doesnt matter wat time of the day it is hot or cold engine, even if i drive somewhere turn it of for a couple minutes or have it off for a couple hours it still does it, and sometimes it starts straight away without problems, when i get my dad to come an look at it it always starts straight away

BCM is located above the fuses on the drivers side
I seriously doubt the bcm is the issue, but you never know as i havnt seen it. If the car was cranking but not starting then i would say its more likely to be thebcm because the bcm may not be sending through the security to the ecu. But since it dosnt crank at all and the fuel pump primes, then it sounds more likeley its the start contacts on the ignition barrel itself or the start relay is dicky. Other thing it could be is burnt lugs/wires/plugs associated with these areas.
