we bought a car battery for a vr commodore yesterday ,. and the car was ticking over when i would turn the key . so i took terminals off and put them back on and did them up really tight, and then the car started/ so took it for a test drive and came back she went alright. noticed from the minute the car started the battery light was on . went to start it again this morning and its ticking . any ideas whats wrong with it ppl
When you say ticking, do you mean from the motor, or from the starter?

Sounds like ur battery is goin flat, but if u only took the terminals off and back on then clearly it wasnt flat! If the batt light is on then that means ur alternator is not charging.
Putting these together, i would say you have a burnt(or dodgy) cable termination on one of ur battery clamps, and the lug termination on the back of the alternator maybe corroded and stuffed. check these areas and re-terminate them if required.
clean up the terminals on the battery and make sure there is no corrosion. Hot water from the kettle will wash it off.
if the battery checks out ok, and the terminals on the back of the alternator look good. Its probably best to replace the brush/regulator set in the alternator. they are about $80 and a 20 minute job to replace.
sounds like a alternator to me....did the same thing in my vt>>>got new batt and went for a drive,i go to put on the a/c and bang the dash lights flicker and the car pulls to a hault....i call a mate to come and tow me,just b4 we hooked it up i tried to turn her over and she started,so i drove it straight to my mech who put a new alt in for $80>>>>>>>>>>4weeks later the new 1 failed and was covered by warrenty( ive had the same 1 on for over 4 years now)....cheeers
