Default Splice a usb cable to ciggie lighter power cable

    Hey,

a thought popped into mind of splicing a usb cable into the ciggie lighter cable, for charging my phone, ipod etc...

anyone done this? or know how to?

n yes i do realise that i can purchase a double adaptor (ciggie n usb) from supercheap, autobaurn but i dont like how far it pops out.

I just bought a mini one with 2 usb sockets that sits in nicely and looks a treat off ebay for $5 or something. I can provide pics if you like

Purchase another console insert for $5 an drill a hole an mount a second cigarette lighter? Or hardwire what I linked elsewhere.

Most GPS units now days run a proprietary mini-usb cable anyways.

buy an inline socket, pop gear selector surround, wire up socket to cig lighter wires underneath, plug in 12v converter, run usb cable to where you want it to run. make sure you get the + and - wires the right way around, or you'll be letting smoke out of everything
