    Default VR V6 Electrical oddities!!!

    Evening Folks!
I have owned my loyal 1994 VR Berlina V6 auto (pre ecotech) for 12 years, and this is my first problem with it!

Apart from regular servicing this will be my first 'Real' job on the car.

The car started normally this morning, I tried to use the electric window and it moved an inch then stopped,
I pulled over to check lights, indicators etc ( luckily decided NOT to turn engine off! ) these were all normal.

Got to my house, parked and turned engine off. tried to restart, engine turning over normally but will not actually start up. I then also noticed that the Central locking had failed, the electric aerial also. After checking all the fuses (they are all fine) including the under bonnet fuses. Also noticed that the fuses for the failed systems were all on different circuits anyway!
I am thinking Body control module....anyone got any other ideas! BUT before I start ripping into the car I thought id get some tips from those who know better!! My previous car being a highly modded VL Turbo I had become very familiar with that.... computer and codes etc....... But new systems and newer tech in the VR means square one!
    Any tips on
    A) if you guys think it sounds like the BCM?
    B) Where is the BCM? LOL! (Im guessing under one of the Kick Panels)
    C) any secrets to removing the old/ installing the new??
    D) Any ideas on what I should pay?

Any help from cyberland would be muchly appreciated!

    Thanks
    Rob

My VS done something similar when the fuel pump failed, but it also blew the fuel pump fuse under the bonnet.
to see if it is the fuel pump, jack up the back of the car & unplug the wires to the fuel pump/sender.
Also try replacing the fuel pump fuse with another of the same range just to see if that hasnot failed where you cant see.
    I hope that helps.

check the earth return lead from the battery to body next to the battery. The stud comes loose and will do strange faults. Usualy it will play up for awhile.

Also recheck all fuses...from the sounds of it fuse number 7 (20A) in the passenger compartment controls all the items you mention. You may have the fuse numbers mixed up which is easy to do.VR V6 Electrical oddities!!!-fuses.jpg
    Good Luck.

Edit - No 5 is a circuit breaker for the windows - the attached pic is slightly different to the workshop manual....confusing!!!

Thanks for all the tips fellas, Got it sorted by resetting the computer. (pulling engine fuse under bonnet out for 30 seconds)
Running like a charm now, will see if it happens again!!!?

    Have a good one!
