had a slight 'mishap' in my vs ss race car
will the irs fit in any vs shell? or do i need one that had irs?
Has to be an irs body as the mounting points are different.
Cheers.
what about a VT shell
will all the running gear from the vs fit in that?
How much of the 'running gear' do you wish to transfer to a vt body? Motor to diff? Diff should transfer fine so long as its an irs model (vt series 1 was still rigid diff in some lower models) but may be a different track width? 5 litre will drop into a vt fine with the right k frame. I believe tailshaft will be different.
ok
but after thinkin i really need to stick with a vs shell so i can use all the other bits like cage etc but its much easier and cheaper to get a lower spec (non irs) shell
is the floor pan of an irs and solid vs 'basically' the same, with the exception of the mounting points? the rear half of the car is ok...... so the thinking is can i cut the floor pan/mounts from the irs car and fit them into a non irs shell?
I was about to say, you won't get the VS motor in the VT legally due to ADR/EPA but then I realised it was a race car.
As long as it's IRS it's transferrable, with the correct VT mounts and K frame etc..
I was also under the impression that every VT model IRS was standard equipment?
every vt IS irs, holden never made a live axle vt
Some VT's used the 5ltr (series 1's)
VT (series 2) was the beginning of the LS1
Ecotec V6 was VS - VY
I would stick with the VS shell.
You already have all the gear and its lighter than a VT.
If I told you I was a compulsive liar, would you believe me?
ok
so everyone agrees that a non irs vs doesnt have the mounting points for an irs?
also am i right in assuming all calais, ss and acclaims came with irs?
