Need help with my vr 5lt

my vr gearbox only goes to 2nd gear then revs its head out trying to get to third but doesnt make it. it is a 4 spd auto. Wondering if i need a new box or is there something i can do. it only started doing it after i replaced the radiator fluids and degreased the engine.
Help would be awesome as i was just quoted $2500 to fix it

yeah mate all fluids checked.

hmm ok, my gearbox wouldnt shift into 4th but thats because it was blown and was also missing 2nd and reverse, thats why i was thinking the trans fluid would be low from emptying the radiator, i would think if yours was blown you wouldnt just be "missing" 4th

Did they quote you for a repair or a replacement? If it was for a repair what did they say was wrong with it?

Second hand is always an option. I see shift kitted boxes going for 500ish all the time on forums

that was for a repair. But didnt say what the repair was. So not sure what to do.

First step would be to check if you have any error codes logged. Second, if the problem only started after you replace the radiator fluid and degreased the engine, it sounds more like a problem with water getting into a sensor, possibly the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).
