Hey all.
Would like to know if an adjustable panhard rod is a must when dropping the rear of my ute.
It's a solid axle VR, it's got super lows in the front and lows with an extra coil cut off in the back. Problem is it doesn't seem to be that low in the back (not as low as i want lol) and sometimes i notice it's on a bit of a lean at the back, when i look under neath the top spring rubber (between spring & body) has popped out.
Is this because the panhard rod is holding the body up too high?
Here's how it sits now.
Any help is appreciated.
The panhard rod has nothing to do with the height of the suspension, and at that height doubt it would be needed (unless your experience scrubbing)
If your having issues with the spring popping out, I suggest you revise the springs you have fitted and get some shortened shocks (as it the shock absorbers job to keep the spring captive)
Power is measured in DECIBEL
Damn, i didn't even think 'bout shortened shocks.
I'll get some and put them in and report back.
cheeRS for that.
utes have ridiculously large bumpstops aswell, might pay to check them and maybe get some sedan ones
Im guessing when you say "The springs have an extra coil cut off the back" that means that you have cut your springs which is pretty much a big no no in all cases.
Maybe revise that before you do anything else.
No i did not cut the springs, they were in a shitter i had sitting 'round.
I'm 42 and have been useing cut springs in all manner of vehicles since i was 14. I was cutting HQ front springs and useing LH 'rana rear springs in the back of HQs probably before you were born and i have NEVER EVER had a problem. So from my experience cut springs are not ALWAYS a danger.
hey man take the springs right out and see how low it goes then, that can tell you where your issue is... Low springs arent low at all mate if u ask me and maybe 1 cut spring wouldnt do much, i would probably cut another or get some ssl's at least...then i reckon you will be happy with the arse end... Your panhard rod is to centre your diff and some you get have slight bends in them to give clearance for the exhaust hitting on them when u do go too low. Hope that helps
Think i'll do that, see how low it goes lol.
yeah let me know just curious too - also if u need a panhard rod in the end mate ive got one for sale send me a pm...also post some pix with no springs in it haha wanna see that sh!t![]()
You're gotta be joking right? Who dropped you on you're head as a baby, or did the doctor forget to slap you're mother?I was cutting HQ front springs and useing LH 'rana rear springs in the back of HQs probably before you were born and i have NEVER EVER had a problem. So from my experience cut springs are not ALWAYS a danger.
If it's not a Symptom its not relevant, and if its not relevant I don't care!
Ive gotta say that Ive seen lots of people use cut springs over the years and have had no problems. You even see chip foose on the tele cutting new springs down SLIGHTLY to get the ride height just right. If it were bad or dangerous, then surely they wouldnt be showing it on the tele,we all know how the USA is with their stupid laws etc.I wouldnt fit cut springs,I always buy new springs that are already set to the height that I want, but I can definitely say that Ive yet to see something go wrong because a car had cut springs fitted.Id say they are most likely to be dangerous when these young blokes these days cut them down way too low.Anyway why the hell would anyone want to scrape and drag their pride and joy over speed bumps and up drive ways etc on its belly, its not good at all for the car in my opinion.
