First question is whether your ute has the loom near the passenger side spring tower for it to plug in. Other than that, check this link. How do I install genuine cruise control on a vs executive?
I'll also post some pics of mine that were taken to help someone else....not a ute but much the same.
You MUST have the module...CC indicator stalk...CC relay...extra CC brake switch...clutch switch (if applicable)
    Good Luck.

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread; But mine doesn't seem to work either. Mine's a VR, though, and by looking at Hako's pictures - there is a Parker Lamp relay where his CC is.. The hell is with that? Full sized relay, not one of those half ones. Everything is there, extra brake switch, CC module(s), stalk, etc. But mine just refuses to turn on. Can someone shed light for me?

I think your problem is that my pic is for a VS - you have a VR and the cruise relay is in the BCM or ECU (one or the other).
Have you checked the stop lights...try bridging the brake switch to see if the CRS lights up.

My lights work perfectly fine. Bridging it does nothing.

What is the exact problem? - does the CRS light up?...did you use the correct cruise brake switch (works opposite to standard brake switch)....auto or manual....

Sorry. I should have been more clear. CRS doesn't light up. But I did it off the brake switch, not the cruise.. My mistake, I probably should have realised that when you said it. It's an Auto, unfortunately. It's too damn cold outside now to try it so I will do it in the mornin' instead.

If it doesn't work after this, then oh well.

Don't give up - next unit to check is the indicator arm....but do the other checks first.

I bridged out the CC brake module and the CRS light still doesn't show. Even took it for a little drive to see if it would. What am I checking in the indicator arm? Just the condition of the wires?

Edit: My ABS is in "ABS OFF" mode 'cause of a retarded front speed sensor. This wouldn't be affecting the operation, would it? I doubt it would be making a difference now, the Cruise never worked before the sensor went haywire.

If you remove the covers from around the steering column you will see a cable going from the indicator arm unit over the column to near where the wiper arm is...it's this cable that breaks internally...I guess you could test it as from memory it's 2 wires, so should be open circuit and then closed when cruise is pressed (or vice-versa)

I just had a look, something was unplugged from the stalk, I plugged it in and took it for a spin, nothin'. Somebody has obviously been at it before, there are crap screws in it. Apparently my test light is broken, when I buy a new one I will test it. Thanks for you help, Hako. It's not really important to me, but when I go to sell it - I would like it at working; only reason I am worrying about it.

If it was disconnected that would indicate that it's buggered....they can be fixed or 2nd hand for $35.

Yeah. I disconnected it once I got back. The guy I bought the car off wasn't exactly bright, though. So I figured it could have been like that for any number of reasons.
