hey all
i have a 94 VR manual and its struggling a bit on start up, it starts great on cold start but when its at running temp it winds over quite a few times and i normally have to pump the throttle a couple of times, when it fires its quite rough but then smooths out and doesnt hiccup at all, runs great
It has new 02 sensor, new crank sensor, new plugs and new leads all in the last 12 months
and it has a strong petrol smell with a full tank of fuel when its parked in an enclosed area but doesnt smell when tank is down a bit
any help or ideas with these problems is appreciated
cheers
just going by your details in ur userlink its a v6 vr ?? is it a slower crank when it struggles or still the same crank but just wont kick over?
ohh yer sorry forgot to mention its a v6, but yer it has plenty of cranking speed, it just takes a while to fire and ive gotta press the accelorator a couple times b4 it will but only when its warm
I replaced my fuel regulator it was ruffly $110 it now starts perfect when replacing u may need to replace fuel hoses connecting it sometimes they will be very worn caus a fuel leakage ther to
i have an 050 vz sv6.when starting it has a bit of a ticking noise.than it seems to go away.
05^not 050 but you probly understood anyway
sounds like one or two of your injectors are losing pressure/ dribbling into the combustion chamber. when it finally fires does it produce a small cloud of blue/white smoke out the exhausts?.. .if YES, then it sounds like you have injector dribble.....very common.
yes it has a bit of blue smoke on start up, but i was leaning more towards that being valve stem seals on their way out, if it is leaky injectors whats the best way to find out which ones it is??
valve stem seals usually would do it all the time, not just on start up. You can remove the fuel rail, and injectors. Keep the fuel lines connected. Then simply placing some paper under each one will show you which one is dribbling, the other option is pick up a new set from e - bay.... probably due for replacement anyways and your problem will be gone for good. lol. if you do the paper check ensure each injector is whiped dry first then spin the ignition key to ac/on (don't start the car) this will presurise the system... simply replace the wet paper ones![]()
A good way to test for worn valve seals is whilst the engine is at operating temp, let it idle for a few minutes, then snap open the throttle a fair way and hold it there,if blue smoke comes from the exhaust as the throttle is opened, but then clears away after a few seconds of revving, then its got worn valve seals.Worn rings will usually cause blue smoke out of the exhaust pretty much constantly whilst running, depending on how worn they are.
