    Default VS slouchy when cold

    Hi Guys

Since winter has hit I have noticed my ecotec has been rather sluggish in the mornings

on a cold start it will idle fine but just doesn't seem to have much umph when I start driving (throttle almost feels heavier)...after 1-2km it comes right and goes hard.

My brothers 350,000km L67 Calais doesn't seem to have this problem

I am running Caltex GTX 20w50 oil if that makes any difference

Is this normal behavior for an ecotec...it was fine through out summer its just these past couple of weeks

Possibly your auto transmission needs a service - once the oil warms up the clutches grip better etc. How long since it has been serviced?....should be done about every 3 years or 80K.

I agree with hako about the auto trans services, except Id halve that recommended service interval under normal driving conditions. You can also try a different thinner engine oil ,something like penrite HPR 15 ,which is a semi synthetic 15W -60 oil.Its a bit thinner when cold than the normal 20W-50 oil your using so it flows a bit easier when cold. Its fairly cheap too.Ive used this oil for a few years now with no problems,it also stays slightly thicker at high temps for better protection in the heat during the summertime...
