Took out passenger seat other day to see if i could put an amp under it,and noticed theres a hell of a big lump (approx 3 feet long,1 1/2 feet wide,2-3 inch high)under it!!!
Anyone had this problem before?couldnt find anything on thread search.
What would cause it to happen? Heat from exhaust/cat,etc? ,previous owner jacking up car in wrong spot?, high speed bumps pushing Ybend/cat up into floorpan??
Could probably bash the pan down again (???),but it might start to bulge again.
Anyone got a thought on this problem ,and how to fix / resolve it ? (its maybe more common that i thought)
A pic would help with this one.
Reaper
The lump is for the catylic converter.
It's not going anywhere fast.
*I assume the lump is in the same spot on the ecotec powered commodores (it was on my buick powered sleds.)
Maybe there is already an amp under the carpet.

hmm pics will be needed for this one
i'll try and get some pics over weekend
Could have something to do with Airbags. You have an Acclaim right? Maybe to do with side airbags if you have them.
no i dont, both my vs's have them my vp had it to
The black box bolted to the floor under the drivers seat contains the SRS airbag crash sensors and SRS systems processor etc.Theres actually two crash sensors inside there ,they both have to simultaneously send a signal for the airbags to fire..
oh really there you go, my vs didnt have an air bag but
If the box was under the drivers seat, then the car has had airbags fitted.Someones probably fitted a normal steering wheel and removed the air bag one..Ive got a wrecked VS that didnt have SRS airbags fitted and it does not have the box under the seat.
Probally a couple kilos of coke put their by the previous owners they forgotten about snort and enjoy
but the question is does coke have a use by date lol ?
cant seem to be able to add images!!there at 3648 x2736(i dunno how to make em any smaller) big enough to see but maybe to big to upload.i have no idea how to do it
Have you ever heard of MS Paint ?? it's included with all versions of Microsoft Windows Paint (software) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Download IrfanView - it's free, do a google search for IrfanView download. Open your picture file, click on Image on the top menu, then select Resize/Resample from the drop down list. Then adjust the picture to any size you want.
Dont know if these images are clear, but you get the idea
the first image is without passenger seat, the tape measure is to show the length of lump, and no there is nothing under the carpet (ie amplifier/airbag system box.etc, etc) just the floorpan.
Second image is directly under the the passenger seat, supporting beams seem to be ok,or do other peoples floorpans look a bit different?
i have more images if needed, dont know if these are to big or small etc.
